NASCAR Driver Intro Songs – What They Should Be Today

Ya’ll know about the great new tradition at Bristol Motor Speedway for NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers to walk out during driver introductions to a song of their choice. It’s fun and it gives us all a little peak into each driver’s mindset and personality, and fans still talk about it.

Why, it’s a darn shame more tracks haven’t adopted this, especially now. With just a handful of races left before the Chase begins, the song selection would be a whole lot different.

So me and some of the Facebook crew got to talkin’. Say if a remainin’ track got smart and were to use driver intro songs, just what should those songs REALLY be?

Now drivers don’t need the added pressure of chosin’ a song for themselves this time of year. They got enough on their minds. So we done took the liberty of puttin’ a list of appropriate songs together for them.

Here ya go boys! (Just in case, download the songs now and practice your walk and wave):

Carl Edwards – “If I Had a Million Dollars” by The Barenaked Ladies or “Super Model” by Jill Sobule

Jimmie Johnson – “It Ain’t Over ‘til It’s Over” by Lenny Kravitz or “Don’t rain On My Parade” by the lovely Barbara Streisand

Kevin Harvick –  “Tied to the Whipping Post” by The Allman Brothers… Right Delana?

Jeff Gordon “Baby One More Time” by Britney Spears

Kyle Busch – Last year I woulda said, “Cry, Baby, Cry” by the Beatles fer sure. But this year I think I gotta go with that song from those “Huggies Pull-Ups” commercials. You know… where the kids sing “Mommy, wow! I’m a big kid now!”

Kurt Bush – “He Ain’t Heavy He’s My Brother” made famous in the U.S. by Bobby Goldsboro

Dale Jr – “I’ve Loved and Lost Again” by Patsy Cline or “Never On a Sunday” Miss Piggy’s version

Denny Hamlin – “Somewhere over the Rainbow” by Judy Garland

Matt Kenseth Hello It’s Me” by Todd Rundgren

Tony Stewart –  “Don’t Go Away Mad” by Motley Crue

Ryan Newman – “Rocket Man” by Sir Elton John is only a natural. But I’m going with “Working For the Man” by Roy Oribison

Clint Bowyer – “Long Hot Summer” by Keith Urban

Juan Pablo Montoya  – Tie between  “Free For all” by Ted Nugent and “Boom Boom Out Go the Lights” by Pat Travers

Trevor Bayne –  “Eighteen” by Alice cooper (Hell, before ya say anything, I know he’s 21. But he don’t look it and I’d bet the Sunday mule he’s still scared as the dickens to go into the beer store!)

Jeff Burton –  “I Got Nothing” by Darius Rucker

Brad Keselowski – With the way h’es comin’ on with a broken ankle and all, I’m thinkin’ “Walk This Way” by Aerosmith

Mark Martin – “We May Never Pass This Way Again” by Seals & Croft

Kasey Kahne – “Another Brick in the Wall” by Pink Floyd for kk’s love for rubbin’ those barriers.

For Jamie McMurray, Greg Biffle and a whole host of others – “Better Luck Next Year” by October Fall

Oh, and honorable mention, Brian France ( he can use it at press conferences) –“I Ain’t Drunk I’m Just Drinking” by blues legend Albert Collins
